Each month centers on one core craft element, explored through a series of weekly deliverables designed to help you make real progress on your manuscript.
Week 1: Masterclass
A focused craft lesson and clear guidance on how to apply it to your own draft.
Week 2: Writing Exercise
A practical exercise that helps you apply the craft principles directly to your story, not in theory, but on the page.
Week 3: Live Q&A Session
A live group coaching call where you can ask specific questions about your story, the writing exercise, or how the craft element shows up in your work.
Week 4: Hot-Seat Session
A live session where I work through one writer’s selected pages to model how to diagnose story strengths and opportunities for deeper development. You’ll learn how make confident revision decisions in your own work.
All live sessions are recorded and added to the library, so you can participate live or catch up on your own schedule.

Hi, I’m Nanci.
Writer, editor, story coach, and host of the podcast Writer Unleashed, where I teach story craft to writers around the world.
I’ve been working with fiction and memoir writers since 2007 through workshops, online programs, manuscript evaluations, and book coaching. My focus has always been the same: helping writers understand how stories work so they can move forward with clarity instead of second-guessing every decision.
Over the years, I’ve seen the same pattern again and again. Writers are deeply committed to their stories, but they get stuck. Not because they lack talent, but because they don’t have a clear way to shape what’s on the page or know what to work on next.
I created the Emerging Writers Academy to offer that clarity.
Inside the Academy, I guide you through a practical craft pathway that moves from idea to finished story. I teach the principles that matter most, model how to diagnose story problems, and help you build the skills to revise with intention and confidence.
