Sometimes writers will introduce a big cast of characters in the first few pages, or the first chapter. But it’s not clear who the main protagonist is. This is often the result of believing that a story is about what happens. So you’re hyper focused on plot – the external events – and the characters are just going along for the ride.

Call it your hero or call it your MC. But all stories need one main protagonist.

In this episode, learn why focusing on one character gives your reader a richer experience, and how to decide who your protagonist is.
