It’s officially gift giving season. Your family and friends might be asking, “What do you want for Christmas?” Or “What do you want for your birthday?” When it comes to gifts for writers, they’re fresh out of ideas.
Maybe you have a writer in your life and you want to get something special, and you’re wondering, what would support him or her? What would help this person get better at their craft?
In this episode, I’m sharing 5 great gift ideas for writers. I have five categories, and I’ll give you more specific gift options and recommendations under each category.

Episode at a glance:
[01:53] 1. Amazon Gift Card
Gift cards come in a variety of gift boxes and mini-envelopes for Christmas and birthdays. It allows you to choose which books you want on your shelf. You may want books in the genre you’re writing or simply to be absorbed in a great story. You may want to collect books on craft.
[07:39] 2. Online Writing Courses and Workshops
Many of us don’t have good writing workshops locally, and they’re not always convenient. They’re often 3 hours long during evenings, in areas we might have to travel to by train, car, or foot. It’s just not practical. Online writing courses give you much more flexibility, because you can go at your own pace and learn on your own schedule.
[09:59] 3. Editorial Services
These include developmental editors for a finished manuscript, book coaching for writers who are working through a first or second draft and manuscript evaluations for a finished draft.
[11:42] 4. Writing Retreats
Writing retreats are fantastic because they’re led by experienced authors and writing coaches. They’re usually four to five days of focused work on developing your story idea, process, or manuscript. And they’re held in serene, beautiful settings.
[13:50] Ergonomic Office Accessories
Writers spend a lot of time sitting in chairs and typing away. Ergonomic chairs and keyboards are a great gift idea, and will help the writer in your life have more longevity in writing their book.
